LNG Marketing Director

Job Description

The Director LNG Marketing is responsible for maintaining and enhancing customer relationships; performing regional market analysis, identifying and pursuing potential marketing opportunities; originating LNG transactions to support hedging, risk management and business development strategies; negotiating contracts; and representing the company in various industry forums.


  • Understands market structure, framework, and guidelines in targeted regions.

  • Conducts market and pricing analysis of targeted regions.

  • Understands and communicates pricing fundamentals and market dynamics.

  • Originates structures and negotiates deals and negotiates contracts: Long-term LNG SPAs, Gas Purchase Agreements, Tolling Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, Loan Agreements and related project agreements.

  • Coordinates with internal groups and resources (legal, finance, gas strategy team) regarding hedging strategies and pricing trends.

  • Maintains relationships with existing and prospective counter-parties, including merchant energy companies, marketers.

  • Team leader, functional leader, or commercial contributor related to commercial, technical, permitting, joint venture, operations, and finance related project activities.

  • Provide commercial support during the negotiations of LNG SPAs, GSA, ship TCP agreements, JV agreements, and/or other commercial contracts necessary for the development of a liquefaction and/or regasification terminal project.

  • Supports internal resources in the development and execution of a strategy for building and optimizing the term portfolio, pursue and manage new business development opportunities, develop and implement value added services.

  • Prepare and present written detailed analyses, presentations and reports for the project team and to senior management.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field. Master's degree in Business, Finance or advanced Engineering degree is desired.

  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years' energy related business development, marketing and commercial skills and related experience with at least 5 years' experience in the LNG industry in commercial and marketing related roles. Emphasis on commercial marketing experience in the LNG and natural gas sector and major project development is highly desirable.

  • Proven project development and delivery of business objectives, ability to analyze and understand complex situations, and ability to develop, recommend and implement practicable solutions in accordance with industry standards.

  • Ability to understand contractual terms and conditions, risks and related topics within the project scope and contracts / documents including LNG SPA, Tolling Agreements, Gas Sales/Purchases, Pipeline Transportation, EPC Contract, Import/Export Authorizations, Permits, Financing Agreements, JV Agreements, Risk Assessments, and related subjects.

  • Previous supervisory experience required with ability to manage a team of experienced professionals under direct supervision, and within a matrix organization structure.

  • Domestic and international travel for 20% to upwards of 50% during the development of projects.

Job Description

The Senior Market Analyst is primarily responsible for analyzing LNG market supply and demand trends, developing forecasts and providing insight to inform and support company activities and commercial decisions. This includes conducting research, collecting data, monitoring media sources, synthesizing and disseminating information, as well as developing models and maintaining databases.


  • Research and analyze fundamentals of the global natural gas and LNG markets to anticipate trends, flag risks and identify opportunities.

  • Apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to interpret data and extract useful information that help in understanding market issues and assessing upcoming trends.

  • Collect, log and analyze data specific to all elements of the gas and LNG markets and its participants, and distribute graphic representations of the data in reports and analytic briefs.

  • Monitor media, industry, and government sources to keep abreast of market developments and the competitive environment.

  • Develop and maintain company fundamental databases to support the research process.

  • Ensure the accuracy of inputs into in-house's data sets and communications, including regulatory filings and other reports for LNG industry bodies such as GIIGNL.

  • Produce periodic reports for both internal and external use as well as prepare bespoke presentations to communicate market views.

  • Collaborate with internal business units and third parties to support research and planning objectives.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics or related field is required. An MBA or graduate degree is preferred.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in the gas industry, specifically related to global LNG markets.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Global perspective with regional expertise (Asia Pacific, other) desired.

  • Must be resourceful, focused, determined, and a self-starter with a proven ability to gather, synthesize, analyze and disseminate information.

  • Must be comfortable with both qualitative and quantitative analyses.

  • Possess the ability to conduct timely adhoc research to support commercial decision-making as well as progress long-term research, develop models, and/or generate reports essential.

  • The ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere.

  • Must have strong and effective organizational, oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have advanced computer knowledge in MS Office.

  • Highly proficient in Excel, MS Word and Power Point.

  • Working knowledge of Tableau or comparable visualization tools.
